Akita Kanto ("pole lantern") Festival
"Akita Kanto ("pole lantern") Festival" which is one of the three major festivals of the Tohoku region, is to be held in Takeo-City, Saga Prefecture on 12 May 2018.

The huge monument with arrays of lanterns attached to the poles represents golden rice crops. Kanto festival is a traditional festival to pray for staple grains abundant harvest. A Kanto is 12m height.

The main event, the parades are to be held, which provides visitors with a rare opportunity to witness such a festival here in the Kyushu region.

Takeo-city has maintained a historic connection with Akita-city since the old days and Kanto Festival will be coming from Akita-City this time of the season.

In Takeo-City, the Special Menu is offered so that you could enjoy sake (rice wine) produced in both Akita and Saga.
