Lanterns are placed along the lanes and roads of the area, a 5 kilometer walking path, from Kiyomizu-dera Temple in the south to Maruyama-koen Park, through Yasaka Shrine up to Shoren-in Temple in the north.
Nearby shrines and temples will also be holding limited-time illumination events and special openings.
