December Events to be Held in Moab Utah

Events in Moab in December, a short and sweet timeline. The first weekend of December is a Holiday festival. In Swanny City Park the City Tree Lighting happens from 5-6 PM on Friday with the Valley Voices and the Grand County High School Band entertaining those who attend. Come for cookies and hot chocolate! Also on Friday are two gift fairs that continue into Saturday. Bring cash!
  • The Grand Center (182 N 500 W) is open Friday 4-8 PM and Saturday December 3 from 9AM – 3PM.
  • The Moab Arts and Recreation Center (111 E 100 N) is open Friday 4-8PM and Saturday 10AM – 5PM.

Perhaps the Winter Sun 10K run is alluring. Starts at the Golf Course and is essentially downhill and fast. Finish at the Grand County High School track. Then stay for the Electric Light Parade. Parade starts at 6 PM. Find a spot along 100 West from Swanny City Park south to Center Street, along Center to Main Street and south on Main Street to 400 South.

The Broken Oar Restaurant (53 West 400 North) is proud to provide the second annual Nativity Walk. This free event has displays of unique, beautiful Nativity scenes from around the world. Refreshments will be served. Choral music and spoken Christmas messages will be performed. There are 3 days planned, so fit this into your holiday fun. December 2, Friday, 4-8PM, December 3, Saturday, noon to a half hour after the electric light parade and December 4, Sunday, 5-8PM.

December 15 2016 7-9 PM the Moab Library presents a free film to be projected at the Historic Star Hall (159 E Center Street), The Lobster. Described thusly, in a dystopian society, single people must find a mate within 45 days or be transformed into an animal of their choice.

Talking Mountain Yurts has year round accommodations. Nestled in the higher elevations of the La Sal Mountains beside Moab Utah, the yurts are a delightful ski or snowshoe journey as winter snow settles into Forest Service lands. Plan a mile and half trek to the Gold Basin yurt. This 20 foot yurt would accommodate 8 people. The Geyser Pass yurt is a spacious 24 foot yurt also accommodating 8 guests. More elevation is gained over this 3.7 mile tour into the Geyser yurt location. www.TalkingMountainYurts.com
