Celebrity chef Matt Golinski coming to Relish Fraser Coast

Matt Golinski
One of Australia’s most popular chefs, Matt Golinski, will headline the Fraser Coast’s premier gourmet event, the Relish Food and Wine Festival, in June.

Fast becoming one of South East Queensland’s signature food and wine events, Relish returns to Maryborough’s Portside on June 4 with a fresh and spicy program showcasing the best produce and products from across the region, as well as local cafes and restaurants, award winning wines, craft beers and gourmet food stalls.

Well known as one of the original team members of the popular ‘Ready Steady Cook’ television series, Matt has worked as executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants including Ricky Ricardo’s in Noosa Heads, and founded his own catering company, Rolling Dolmade.

Tourism and Events Manager for Fraser Coast Opportunities, Tas Webber, said it was an exciting coup to have Golinski headlining Relish given his industry profile and commitment to locally-sourced produce.

“Matt is such an inspirational person and a highly regarded, professional chef with a passion for creating cuisine using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients.

“We are delighted to announce that he will be bringing his culinary flair to the Fraser Coast and sharing his cooking secrets with festival-goers in what is shaping up as one of our most exciting Relish events yet.

“Relish is a mouth-watering showcase of the Fraser Coast’s finest seasonal produce and regional wineries. Matt will conduct a number of cooking demonstrations throughout the day, shining the spotlight on our regional food story,’’ Mr Webber said.

Based on the Sunshine Coast, Matt now enjoys working as a consulting chef to restaurants, as well as writing his popular food columns and blog. He is also a motivational speaker and an active member of the Slow Food movement, which supports local communities and the environment by promoting the use of fresh, clean, local food.

Matt said he was really looking forward to using Fraser Coast produce in his cooking demonstrations at the festival.

“There is nothing better than using fresh, local produce and where better than the Fraser Coast, which is well known around the world for produce, especially its famous seafood,” said Mr Golinski.

Maryborough’s magnificent Portside precinct – incorporating Queens Park, Mary River Parklands, heritage streetscapes and the Mary River - will serve as the beautiful backdrop for the gourmet experience.

The distinctive setting will come alive with fresh local produce such as delicious Hervey Bay Scallops and Fraser Island prawns, beer and wine tasting sessions, cooking and food demonstrations, competitions, live music and much more from 10am to 5pm.
