MAINIE TAKES OFF IN MELBOURNE

While the Mainie label is still relatively new, having launched in Cairns in August this year, it is proving popular with travellers seeking the perfect gift and travelling companion. A successful retail debut at Lagardère Travel Retail’s Discover boutiques at Cairns Airport has the label spreading its wings further afield. This week Lagardère Travel Retail’s Discover Store at Melbourne International Airport launched Mainie’s range of silk tops, wraps, scarves and sarongs with an impressive in-store display.

Mainie’s directors, Charmaine Saunders and Denis Keeffe are delighted to have secured an interstate presence with confirmation they will now be stocked at one of Australia’s busiest airport terminals. “This is really good news and we feel immense gratitude for Lagardère Travel Retails support and invitation to take another step forward towards fulfilling our dreams of a fully Australian and global presence.

“Australia’s tourism market is absolutely key if Mainie is to succeed and we cannot think of a better start than being stocked within key transit points,” said Charmaine.

According to Charmaine, they created Mainie especially with the visitor market in mind. “The artwork, which is an artistic expression of age-old Aboriginal

Dreamtime stories from the Red Centre, is appealing for its cultural significance and blend of colours while the silk we are using is the very best in the world.”

Jacqueline Chang, Category Manager at Lagardère Travel Retail said the demand for Mainie at Cairns Airport stores was immediate and has been consistent ever since. “While we were optimistic from the outset that discerning travellers would embrace the beautiful range of scarves and tops, the real proof is in the purchase and volume of sales. Already, the label is proving a popular choice for shoppers from a broad range of demographics. The good thing about this product is its long list of selling points from the cultural artwork aspect, its integrity as an ethical and free trade company and the lightweight versatility,” she said.

With the first Melbourne order placed this week, the Mainie team have a few busy days ahead packaging up their first order bound for Melbourne while making time to replenish their stock supplies in Cairns retail outlets.

Commenting on Lagardère Travel Retail’s decision to stock the Mainie label, Ms Chang said each airport store throughout Australia has been curated carefully to embody the spirit of the destination while showcasing good quality and desirable items developed by the people living there.

Mainie will launch in Melbourne Airport Terminal’s Discover stores this month in time for Christmas gift shopping.
