Holland’s longest tulip route named world’s ultimate road trips by National Geographic

Holland’s longest tulip route can be found in the Noordoostpolder in Flevoland. Over 100km through nearly 2500 acres of colourful fields make this one of the world’s most beautiful routes.

Spring in Holland is marked by flowers and flower bulbs. The most famous places are Keukenhof and the flower-bulb region but Flevoland is not as well-known even though it boasts Holland’s longest and most colourful tulip route in the Noordoostpolder!

With nearly 5,000 acres worth of red, yellow and purple flower-bulb fields, Flevoland is Holland’s biggest flower-growing regions! The fields can be found in East and South Flevoland and, most importantly, the Noordoostpolder.

Every year in spring, there is a spectacular ‘Flower-bulb route’ encompassing over 100km through nearly 2500 acres of flowering fields. The route has become the longest and most colourful route in Holland and even, according to National Geographic, one of the world’s ultimate road trips!

The Tulip Route is marked by signs so it makes for an easy drive. You will pass through many wonderful tulip fields and have the opportunity to enjoy countless activities.

Pick your own tulips at the Tulip Picking Garden, for instance, and stop to discover products made in the Noordoostpolder at several farms. You can also admire several gorgeous farm gardens lush with spring bulbs, unique plants and lovely arbours.
