Celebrating 60 Years of Australia-Malaysia Friendship!

The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has pulled off another successful Australia Day Reception…for the 8th consecutive year!

Hosted by the Australian High Commission Malaysia and officiated by Malaysian Minister of Human Resources, Dato’ Sri Richard Riot Jaem and Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E. Rod Smith PSM, close to 1,000 guests from the government, Malaysian society and the Australian community in Malaysia, gathered to celebrate the occasion and, more importantly, mark the 60th anniversary of Australia’s diplomatic presence in Malaysia.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) 2015, the Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor said, “the Australia Day Reception is always the perfect event for us to kick off the new year. And this being the 8th consecutive year the auspicious gathering is being held at the Centre makes the Australian High Commission Malaysia one of our longest-standing recurrent clients.”

With the Centre celebrating its 10th year in business this year (2015), Pryor concurred that a loyal group of repeat clients have been key to transforming the venue from ‘new kid on the block’ in 2005 to Malaysia’s premier convention centre and one of Asia Pacific’s leading meetings venues today.
