Cairns and Great Barrier Reef still on UK Map

Seven business events buyers from the UK recently experienced some of the best Cairns & Great Barrier Reef (pictured) has to offer conference and incentive groups. Coordinated by destination management company Arinex, in conjunction with Business Events Australia and Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef (BEC&GBR), the buyers were able experience both Port Douglas and Palm Cove during their visit to the region.

Highlights of the trip included an up-close-and-personal Australian wildlife experience at Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures; a day on Quicksilver’s Agincourt Reef pontoon on Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living organism; a surprise helicopter flight back to the mainland with Great Barrier Reef Helicopters, and a spectacular dinner at Flames of the Forest, under the world heritage listed rainforest canopy.

Rosie Douglas, director of business events BEC & GBR said she was thrilled that Cairns, along with Sydney, had been chosen to host the group. “At a recent trade show in Frankfurt which we attended with the Cairns Convention Centre, we were delighted with the sustained level of business interest in our region from the UK and Europe, despite their challenging economic environment,” she said. “This program has put Cairns & Great Barrier Reef firmly in the itinerary for those corporations represented.”
