Abu Dhabi Has 32% Increase In Australian Visitors From Jan-Nov 2010 To Jan-Nov 2011.


Abu Dhabi has had a large increase in overseas visitors in 2011. Some of the impressive statistics include-

- The total number of hotel guest arrivals was 206,748 during the month of November 2011, a strong increase of 22% when compared to the same month in 2010.
- In addition to the strong increase in hotel establishment guests, the number of hotel guest nights also increased by 12% or 612,942 guest nights in November 2011.
- The strong increase in guest arrivals and guest nights were influenced by the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix event which was held 11-13th November and is a particularly popular event amongst UAE and GCC residents.
- Total revenue for hotel establishments was down slightly by 2% (AED 497 million), along with food and beverage revenue which was also down by 1% in November 2011.
- The hotel occupancy rate was 77% in November 2011 which was the same rate when compared to the same month in 2010.
- Average length of stay for the month of November was 2.96 down by 8% when compared to the same month in 2010.

- 16% increase in guests to 1,903,888
- 23% increase in guest nights to 5,694,140
- 8% increase in occupancy levels to 69% (from 64%)
- 4% increase in revenue to 3.96 billion AED
- 6% increase in average length of stay to 2.99 nights (from 2.82 nights)

Monthly – Guest Arrivals
Guest arrivals in November 2011 increased by 22% compared to November 2010. They arrived from:
- UAE 11%
- Total international 30%
- Asia 51%
- GCC 47%
- Other Arab market (non-GCC) 34%
- Europe 17%
- North America (US & Canada) -7%

There was a 44% increase in Australian visitors in November 2011 compared with November 2010

Among the international markets Asia increased by 51%, followed by GCC 47%, Other Arab market 34%, while North America saw a 7% decrease.

Asia’s increase in guest performance in November 2011 was primarily driven by growth from India (48%), Philippines (80%) and Russia (112%).

Amongst GCC markets growth was driven by Qatar (55%), Saudi Arabia (52%) and Oman (48%).

Guest arrivals increased by 16% in Jan – Nov 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.
- UAE 9%. The increases were from:
- Total international 20%
- Asia 28%
- GCC 33%
- Other Arab market (non-GCC) 21%
- Europe 19%
- North America (US & Canada) -2%

There was a 32% increase in Australian visitors in the YTD period of January to November 2011 compared to 2101.

Growth was recorded across all key markets in relation to guest arrivals with the exception of North America which decreased by 2%. Strongest growth was seen from the GCC (33%), followed by Asia (28%), Other Arab (21%) and Europe (19%).

Asia’s growth rate was primarily influenced by a significant increase in arrivals from Kazakhstan (408%), North Korea (86%), South Korea (75%), Russia (38%) and the Philippines (40%).

Contributing countries to the strong arrival growth rate for the GCC markets was Saudi Arabia which increased by (60%) then Kuwait (38%) and Oman (16%).

Europe’s growth rate was primarily influenced by both Germany and France (20%) while UK and Italy increased by 16%
