Cape Town, South Africa, has been awarded The 2011 Travelers’ Choice World Best Destinations. These awards are based on millions of real and unbiased opinions from the TripAdvisor web site readers. Award winners are determined based on a combination of travellers’ favourite places and overall destination popularity.

Cape Town is commonly known as the, Mother City of Africa. It is the provincial capital of the Western Cape Province, and is the second most highly populated city in South Africa. The area is regarded as one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Cape Town is a rare cultural gem, resulting from the amalgamation of Indonesian, French, Dutch, British and German settlers, the local Bushman and Hottentot tribes and the Bantu tribes from the north.

The impressive presence of Table Mountain, flanked by the legendary Devil's Peak and historical Signal Hill, stands proudly above the city.
